Consortium Objective and Approach
The
Consortium will be devoted to the investigation of near-surface effects on
petroleum seismic data using a multidisciplinary approach that includes several
branches of Science and Engineering. The Consortium’s approach can be
summarized as follows:
1.
Development of realistic models of near-surface features using available geophysical, geological, and engineering
information.
2.
Analysis of existing real data gathered over areas with specific
near-surface features (e.g., sand dunes, karsts) and comparing it with results
of our models.
3.
Performing small-scale and large-scale field experiments to
calibrate our models.
4.
Development of scaled physical models of the near surface.
